Icebreakers
NaNoWriMo champion since 2009, (ask me about the whimsical catastrophe of my 2013 submission).
In college I co-wrote, directed and performed in a full length musical adaptation of the 1995 Sci-Fi thriller Species
I’ve never hunted animals, but I have hunted ghosts.
Everyone has a story…
Hello, I’m a UX designer based in the Twin Cities. I hail from a background of creative writing and being a public librarian in downtown Minneapolis.
It was a vibrant setting where I worked with people from all walks of life. I learned how to listen and problem solve on-the-fly while connecting patrons with information that suited their needs. These skills serve me well as I transitioned into user experience design.
Empathy and creativity have been a big part of my toolkit as I engage with others and assess the problems before us. I have found that being open to the unknown and welcoming uncertainty is a part of the process toward finding a solution. Easier said than done, of course, but curiosity is my friend and I never tire of searching for new ideas, new results.
I have years of experience in theater, creative writing, podcasting and video production. Through all of this I have found that expression can’t happen in a vacuum- we are all connected and my work lies in making the world more accessible to everyone’s story.
When I’m not designing, you can find me participating in writing sprints for Nanowrimo.org, making music for basementsketches.org and continually rescuing my young nephew from the boredom of growing up.
